June 2009 ( 354 ) - Update 12/29/2009 Meet Red Dog. Red dog is about 4 years old. We are making him an honorary BC but believe he is a Heinz 57. A shelter asked us to herding test him because they thought he had a strong herding instinct. We tested him and he has absolutely no interest in livestock. We have been fostering Red since Aug 2009. He is a silly, funny, cuddly little dog that would be a great addition to just about any family. Red is does not bark much, but will join in when our other dogs think it’s time to bark. He has been known to join in the occasional howl fest as well. Red does chase cats if they run from him, but he takes correction very well and will stop if he’s corrected while in pursuit. He has also been confronted by an eight pound kitty that he now leaves alone. Red loves to play & rough house with one if his Border Collie brothers. He also likes to lick the water from our Weim’s lips after he is done drinking. Red does muzzle punch some dogs (and people). Originally we thought he was nipping, but have come to realize he is just bopping you with his nose. Most dogs (and people) find this annoying, but Red is improving as we socialize him more. We have a 12 year old boy who is Red’s best friend. They run around, wrestle and snuggle together. Red loves to be wherever his humans are. He follows you from room to room. He loves to lay right up next to or on top of his people while watching TV and sleeping at night. Red was a bit naughty when we first started fostering him, but again, he does take correction very well. He likes stinky socks and will chew on them if they are left on the floor. He crates well and is house trained. We have been crating him less and less as he has gotten used to his routine and boundaries at our house. He does well on a leash as well. Red has been a constant source of fun & amusement for our family and a great dog to foster. He is very sweet and quite a goofball.
