Update November 15th "Kian" (nickname "Yoda" cause of his ears and shape of head) has been with his foster family for about 10 weeks and is making great strides. He is walking famously on lead and is comfortable going out of his comfort zone. He is still shy with strangers but does allow pets. Just recently we found out he does not care for small children rushing up to him and reaching at him, he cowers and hides behind his person. I am sure with some more work he will get better. Everything takes time and patience. Kian also knows sit, stay, his recall is good except when a squirrel is involved, he kennels great now and does not make a peep all night. He is very eager to please and always waiting for his next task.
"Kian" is very sweet and loves to be petted and loved, he is kind of an attention hog. He eventually does settle down and likes to lay at his foster mom or dads feet. Sometimes annoying his foster sister to another area of the room. He likes to annoy his foster sister in general, if she is getting any kind of attention he wants to have his face right in the middle and lick, lick, lick. He has to pretty much be in the middle of everything if the cats are walking around he's gotta know what they are up to and if he can tag along, they generally don't like him having his eye on them all the time and they let him know what is acceptable and what isn't. He likes to lick anything and everything, he is quite funny, it is like his sniffer doesn't work so he has to taste everything.
This boy is such a character he is always making his foster family laugh, playing outside, playing Indy 500, we call it, because he just runs and runs and runs, then he wants someone to play (chase) him and jump around like a maniac, It is hilarious. He does like to bark at the neighbors, when they are close to the fence (his zone) so we are working on that with him, because he gets a little out of control and gets his foster sister in a tizzy, and it just snowballs from there. Recently squirrels have really been a fixation for Kian, he will sit and stare up at the tree or bushes for an hour barking at a squirrel whether there is a squirrel still there or not, he figures there was a squirrel there and I am sure one will be back so I will sit and wait and bark to see if something moves. He keeps his foster family on their toes, that's for sure. Kian needs patience, tons of exercise, plenty of hands on (petting), minimal grooming (he wears his nails down running, and shedding is not bad), a warm bed (preferably yours), and lots of good food and treats.
