Update September 2009
Sorcha (pronounced "circa") came to us in an emergency situation; she was being mistreated and needed a safe, gentle home immediately. Sorcha is between 1-2 years old. She is a beautiful, fun, high energy, athletic Border Collie/boxer (we think) mix female. Sorcha is surprisingly trusting considering her past. She is very loving and extremely happy to be around people.
Sorcha uses her front legs to "box" when she plays and she can play rough, so we suggest she go to a home with older children. (she could accidentally bump a younger child and knock them over). She is not aggressive with people. She is a cuddle bug and would like nothing more to sit in your lap and be loved on.
She can play nice with other dogs but at the same time she has shown some aggression toward them in the past. In her current foster home she gets along great with the resident dogs and other foster dogs. She and Scully are best buds and LOVE to play in the house or out! Sorcha needs an experienced handler, especially when being introduced to new dogs. After proper introduction she gets along with most dogs she meets. We recommend that she go to a home where she will be an only dog (she would LOVE the extra attention!) or a home with a more submissive male dog - she does love to play too!
While Sorcha has a vertical leap of about 6 feet she has shown no desire to jump out of an outdoor kennel. She is crate trained and knows a sit and is working on down and solid recall. She will generally come over wiggling when you call her. Agility would be a great sport for this dog. She is extremely athletic. This girl would like something to do! :) Sorcha L-O-V-E-S to go for walks. Tony takes her on walks regularly and says she is a great walking companion. Sorcha really loves Tony - she sleeps in his room at night and when he isn't home, she goes down to his bedroom, just to double-check that he's not there! Sorcha really likes to be with "her person". She is a very loyal dog.
So summing up; Sorcha should go to a very active home with children over 10 years old and most importantly an experienced border collie/dog owner. A home where she is an only dog or a home with a more submissive male dog would be best for Sorcha. (she does love to play!) Sorcha is a sweet girl and will be a great, loyal, companion for her person.
Sorcha would also be great for a single woman or man and would lovvvvve to be someones jogging companion! With her athleticism and energy, Sorcha would also make a good agility dog with training.
